Pownce, the media-rich Twitter competitor that was co-founded by Digg
’s Kevin Rose along with Leah Culver and Daniel Burka, has been acquired by Six Apart and will be closing its doors on December 15.
I am a little bit surprised to hear this, considering the amount of hype that Pownce and it’s founder Leah Culver have been getting. Pownce was once labelled by the New York Times as the hottest startup in Silicon Valley, while Leah was recently named by Inc. Magazine as one of the “Cool, Determined & Under 30” entrepreneurs.
However, Just as Jason Kincaid wrote at TechCrunch, Pownce couldn’t compete with it’s main competitor: titter. Leah herself has a twitter account.
